This was the first year we sponsored VMworld and it was a great experience! We arrived in San Francisco on Saturday and had a chance to explore some of the nice sites the city has to offer.

Sunday (Partner day) I attended some EUC related sessions and was excited about the CloudVolumes announcement and the general hype VMware seems to have around the End User Computing space. Rob Beekmans did a good job covering most of the EUC VMware related news in his blog post and Chris Ward wrote a blog post covering the major SDDC and Hybrid Cloud stuff.

Later that day, the Solutions Exchange floor opened and people started swarming in to check out the different vendors exhibitions. We had a great time showing the VMware sysadmin community arriving at our booth how the new ControlUp 4.0 completes the vCenter Operations Manager monitoring experience by providing real-time performance views and a full set of management actions for Virtual Servers and Horizon View environments.

During the show we got great feedback from VMware admins (both server guys and View admins) regarding the new Hypervisor Integration feature that enables them to detect a performance issue at the host level and then track down the actual Windows process which is causing it. We had a lot of technical discussions with the attendees regarding the existing VMware management solutions and how ControlUp can bridge some of the existing gaps. This being our first VMworld booth we got tons of useful feature requests from VMware admins especially regarding Linux guests, deep monitoring, and integration with existing tools such as vCenter Operations Manager.

VMworld 2014 at San Francisco was an enlightening experience for us. Based on the booth success and the excellent feedback from the attendees, we will definitely continue sponsoring this event in the future.
See you at the ControlUp booth at VMworld 2014 Barcelona!
