As a community facing product, we always try to engage our end users and listen to their requests so we can optimize ControlUp based on their needs. In addition to our regular communications with ControlUp admins, we decided to take it up a notch and approach experts from the Citrix, Virtualization & RDS Community and use their insights to improve ControlUp and make sure we keep leading the Real-time Performance Management front.
Over the last couple of months I met many leading community members in events like Citrix Synergy, Briforum and E2E VC (formerly known as PubForum) and after some lively discussions on VDI and Virtualization management in general and ControlUp in particular, we decided to form a technical advisory board that will meet regularly and discuss ways to improve ControlUp based on the members experience and feedback.
So without further ado, I am very pleased to introduce our distinguished advisory board members:
Shawn is an independent consultant with a focus on application delivery in the areas of Server Based Computing, Streaming and Virtualization, etc. Shawn was awarded the Citrix Technology Professional award in 2006 for his community contributions on various forums as well as his presentations at various technical conferences throughout the world. Also awarded Microsoft MVP in 2008 for contributions to the Terminal Services community
Jarian Gibson is a Virtualization Practice Manager for Choice Solutions focused on application and desktop virtualization technologies based out of the Kansas City area. He works with his team architecting and deploying solutions throughout the US central region. Jarian is an active contributor in the Citrix Support Forums, the Citrix IRC channel, and has his own blog. Jarian has presented at BriForum and Citrix Synergy, been named Citrix Geek of the Week, and contributed to Desktop Virtualization Deployment Insights eBook published by Citrix Shane Kleinert. Jarian is a CTP since 2013
Shane is a highly motivated, energetic, thorough and detail-oriented Information Technology professional with over 10 years of enterprise IT experience. Shane has exceptional skills in assessment, design, architecture, implementation, troubleshooting, and monitoring of innovative IT solutions. Shane has at BriForum and Citrix Synergy and is an active member in the Citrix IRC community.
The first advisory board meeting took place during Citrix Summit Orlando in mid-January where we had a lively discussion regarding the upcoming ControlUp 3.0 features and the current / future state of VDI and Virtualization performance management. I honestly believe the technical advisory board will help us deliver a better product which meets the needs of every VDI and Virtualization admin.
