ControlUp has released significant updates that bring macOS management capabilities closer to parity with Windows, enabling unified visibility and control for mixed IT environments.
- New Live Remote Management features for macOS, including Remote Process List and Remote File Browser, allow real-time troubleshooting and direct file system access from a single console.
- ControlUp for Apps now extends application experience monitoring to macOS, providing proactive insight into performance issues, crashes, and network behavior on Mac devices.

Managing a mixed fleet has usually meant a trade-off: full visibility and control on Windows, and a narrower toolset on Mac. Live Remote Management Comes to macOS
With this release, IT administrators can now remotely access two critical RMM capabilities on managed Mac devices, capabilities that Windows users already rely on and that Mac users have been waiting for.
- Remote Process List: Get a real-time view of every process running on a managed Mac. Spot runaway processes, identify unexpected applications, and troubleshoot performance issues without needing to be in the same room, or the same country, as the device.
- Remote File Browser: Navigate the file system on any managed Mac device directly from the ControlUp console. Whether you’re verifying a configuration file exists, checking a log directory, or supporting an end user with a missing document, you now have the visibility to act fast.
Together, these bring Mac into the same remote management workflow you already use for Windows: one console, one set of tools, no switching between them because a device happens to run macOS.
ControlUp for Apps Now Monitors macOS
Following the latest Mac agent release, ControlUp for Apps extends application experience monitoring to macOS. That’s on top of existing support for Windows and IGEL OS, so the Apps story now spans the platforms your users actually work on.
For a mixed fleet, this closes a different kind of gap: it’s not just about remotely reaching a Mac when something breaks, it’s about seeing app-level performance issues on Mac before employees have to report them. Real-time insight into performance, crashes, and network behavior helps you pinpoint what’s slow and why, on macOS the same way you already can on Windows.
One Console, Whichever OS Is Having a Bad Day
Put together, these two releases mean less time deciding which tool to open based on what operating system a device is running. Whether it’s a runaway process, a file you need to check, or an app that’s crashing on a user’s Mac, you’re working from the same console and the same workflow you use everywhere else in your environment.

- Improved memory reporting — Application, Compressed, and Wired breakdowns matching Activity Monitor exactly
- UPN collection — from Directory Services and other applications on the device, for more consistent identity across your Mac fleet
- Crash reporting — the agent now captures and reports crash data, tagged by OS platform, and app crashes now appear in your Employee dashboards
- Script audit trail restored — full script execution auditing is back on macOS
- Accurate CPU name reporting — Apple silicon chips now report their actual name (e.g., “Apple M3 Pro”)
- Survey interaction tracking — each stage of an employee sentiment survey (received, notified, snoozed, completed) is now tracked individually
