Join Us for 2 Days of Learning, Networking, and Innovation at the AVD Tech Fest

AVD Tech Fest

“Two of the most common questions Patrick and I have received since we announced the 2024 edition of AVD Tech Fest – hosted by ControlUp – are: What has changed, and why did you partner with ControlUp?

Let’s start with the second question. Why the partnership with ControlUp? There is a twofold answer to this question. First – why a partnership? There is a lot of work that goes into arranging a conference. Even though we have had tremendous help from our previous event management firm, it has still taken more time from Patrick and me than we thought it would and honestly have. It has also always been a financial risk – dependent on sponsorship – associated with each new event. With a strong partnership, like the one we have with ControlUp, it solves both of these concerns. Patrick and I can focus on the two things that we think are the most important for any conference: the content and the experience (for attendees, speakers, and sponsors).

The second part of the answer to the question “Why ControlUp?” is that they – to us – are the perfect partner for what we want AVD Tech Fest to be. What started as WVD (Windows Virtual Desktop) and transitioned through AVD (Azure Virtual Desktop) is now “All Virtual Desktops Tech Fest.” We want the event to be one that welcomes all technologies that are, in one way or another, related to Azure, and ControlUp is one of the few technology vendors that are equally inclusive. Regardless of which kind of desktop you run or which technology you use to manage them, ControlUp can help you get the most out of it – just as we think they will be able to do with AVD Tech Fest.

ControlUp has also been one of the partners that have been with us from the beginning and have always provided us with feedback and support. After the last AVD Tech Fest in Edinburgh, they had ideas and a vision for what they thought AVD Tech Fest could be that aligned really well with what Patrick first envisioned and brought me in on.

That brings us to the second question, what has (or will) change? The event will be bigger (two days instead of one and able to welcome more attendees), and we have decided to charge a small fee for the event – basically to cover the basic costs per attendee (primarily food and drinks). We do this to ensure that whoever signs up has a (small) financial commitment and therefore will decrease the number of no-shows. That leads to both a smaller environmental impact and the fact that we can invest more in the actual event. We also have some rather cool changes for all attendees coming up, but the core of the event remains the same. We will have the best speakers, the greatest tech innovators as sponsors, the best attendee experience, and the most welcoming atmosphere possible. It should be a Tech Festival – and you are all invited – thanks to ControlUp and our other sponsors.

We are very grateful and happy that we have found a host for AVD Tech Fest that genuinely cares about the EUC community, that welcomes all technologies, and that is willing to listen to our and your feedback to shape the event.

We (Simon & Patrick) and ControlUp hope to see you all in Amsterdam in September!”
